Prosper ISD CBE + EA — Parent Guide: 70%/80%, Year-Long Course Window Rule (2026-2027)
Prosper ISD (PISD-North) splits CBE (70% pass, prior instruction) and EA (80% pass, acceleration) into two separate programs, with grade-band tracks for 1-5 and 6-12. Year-long courses (Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, U.S. History) restricted to specific placement windows.
Crowley ISD CBE — Parent Guide: 80% Mastery, 2 Comprehensive HS (2026-2027)
Crowley ISD Credit by Examination: 80% for acceleration, 70% for credit recovery. Two HS: Crowley HS + North Crowley HS. Register through campus counselor.
Plano ISD Credit by Exam — Parent Guide: 80% Mastery, 3-Tier HS System (2026-2027)
Plano ISD organizes credit-by-exam by grade band: Grades 1-5 (80% on each of Science/SS/Math/LA), Grades 6-8 (single-grade advancement), Grades 9-12 (credit for courses not taken OR previously attempted). Max 2 attempts. Placement changes at start of school year only.
Coppell ISD CBE — Parent Guide: 80% Mastery, TEKS-Aligned, CISD-Only (2026-2027)
Coppell ISD Credit by Examination: 80% for acceleration, TEKS-aligned, CISD-enrolled students only. Grades 1-5 + HS.
Fort Worth ISD CBE — Parent Guide: 80% Pass, 2 Departments (CCR + G&T) (2026-2027)
Fort Worth ISD Credit by Exam and Acceleration Testing: 80% for acceleration, 70% for credit recovery. Two departments — College & Career Readiness + Gifted & Talented.
Frisco ISD CBE + EA — Parent Guide: 80% Mastery, Window A/D for Full-Year Courses (2026-2027)
Frisco ISD maintains CBE (prior instruction) and EA (Exam for Acceleration, no prior instruction) as two separate programs. EA requires 80% mastery. Full-year courses — Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, U.S. History — are restricted to Window A or D. Parent-friendly guide.
Midland ISD Credit by Exam — Parent Guide: 80% Free vs 70% Paid, Apply 30 Days Ahead (2026-2027)
Midland ISD runs two Credit by Examination tracks with different passing scores and different bills: 80% for acceleration, which the district pays for, and 70% with prior instruction, which the family pays for. The application is due at least 30 days before the test and needs four signatures. What a Permian Basin family needs before asking a counselor.
McKinney ISD CBE — Parent Guide: 80%/70% Passing, 3-HS Structure (2026-2027)
McKinney ISD Credit by Examination: 80% for acceleration (TEC §28.023), 70% for credit recovery (19 TAC §74.24). Registration through your campus counselor at McKinney HS, McKinney Boyd, or McKinney North. District Assessments office administers.
Eanes ISD/Westlake CBE — Parent Guide: 90% Bar, Prior-Year Enrollment, 10-Day Deadline (2026-2027)
Eanes ISD (Westlake HS) Credit by Examination: 90% passing, must be EISD-enrolled prior year, retest ONCE, scores by 10th school day, not allowed Jan-May of graduating year.
