Florida Geometry EOC — What's On It, How to Practice, and the Concordant Path
The Florida Geometry EOC is the state's end-of-course test for Geometry, aligned to B.E.S.T. (Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking) standards. Depending on your child's diploma path, passing the Geometry EOC at Level 3 or higher may be required for graduation. This guide breaks down exactly what's on the test, how to interpret the score, what to do if your child doesn't pass, and how Texas TEKS-aligned Geometry practice covers the underlying math.

Why Florida Geometry EOC matters
Florida's Geometry EOC is administered by FDOE through the Florida Statewide Assessment system. It's one of the End-of-Course tests that determines whether a student has met B.E.S.T. Geometry content standards. Geometry sits between Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 on the Florida math sequence, and the EOC counts toward the final course grade in addition to its graduation function.
Florida is one of the few US states still requiring math EOCs for graduation (along with Texas, Louisiana, Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey). The Geometry EOC's specific graduation weight depends on the diploma option (standard vs. scholar designation) — confirm with your school counselor.

B.E.S.T. Geometry — full topic-by-topic breakdown
The Florida Geometry EOC covers seven main topic areas under B.E.S.T. standards:
1. Congruence and Similarity
- Triangle congruence theorems: SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, HL.
- Triangle similarity: AA, SSS similarity, SAS similarity.
- Proving triangles congruent or similar in two-column proofs.
- CPCTC (Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent) — using congruence to prove segment / angle equalities.
2. Right Triangle Trigonometry
- Pythagorean Theorem and its converse — including 3-4-5, 5-12-13 triple recognition.
- Special right triangles: 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 side ratios.
- Basic trigonometry: sin, cos, tan for acute angles in right triangles.
- Inverse trig functions for angle measurement.
- Solving real-world right-triangle problems (ladders, ramps, angles of elevation/depression).
3. Circles
- Arc and chord properties: arc length, chord length, perpendicular bisector.
- Tangent line properties: tangent perpendicular to radius at point of tangency.
- Inscribed angles: inscribed angle theorem, angles intercepting same arc, semicircle angles.
- Equations of circles in standard form (x-h)² + (y-k)² = r² and conversion from general form.
- Area of sectors and segments.
4. Coordinate Geometry
- Distance formula and midpoint formula.
- Slope and parallel/perpendicular lines.
- Coordinate proofs (using algebra to prove geometric properties).
- Transformations: translation, reflection, rotation, dilation on the coordinate plane.
- Rigid motions and identifying congruence via transformation.
5. Polygons and Quadrilaterals
- Sum of interior angles of polygons.
- Special quadrilaterals: parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, square, trapezoid, kite — properties and identification.
- Quadrilateral diagonal properties.
6. Three-Dimensional Figures
- Surface area and volume of prisms, cylinders, pyramids, cones, spheres.
- Cross-sections of 3D figures.
- Real-world volume / surface-area problems.
7. Logic and Proofs
- Conditional statements: hypothesis, conclusion, converse, inverse, contrapositive.
- Two-column geometric proofs.
- Indirect proof / proof by contradiction (basics).
The 5-level scoring scale
Like all B.E.S.T. tests, the Geometry EOC reports on a 5-level achievement scale. Level 3 (On Grade Level) is the passing threshold for graduation purposes.
- Level 1 — Well Below Grade Level.
- Level 2 — Below Grade Level (does not meet graduation standard).
- Level 3 — On Grade Level (passing).
- Level 4 — Proficient (above grade level).
- Level 5 — Exemplary (advanced).
If your child doesn't pass
Florida offers multiple retake windows per year (Fall, Winter, Summer). The highest score counts — there's no penalty for retaking.
If retakes aren't bridging the gap to Level 3, the concordant SAT/ACT/PSAT math score pathway may apply for diploma options that include Geometry. FDOE publishes the current concordant cut scores; verify with your counselor.
How our Geometry practice fits
We're a Texas-focused practice platform. Our 506-question Geometry bank is built around Texas TEKS, which overlaps roughly 70-80% with Florida B.E.S.T. Geometry standards. The underlying geometry math — congruence, similarity, right-triangle trig, circles, coordinate geometry, polygons, 3D, proofs — is universal across state Geometry curricula.
The differences are mostly format:
- Item format: our practice is multiple-choice (4-option); Florida EOC adds drag-and-drop, equation editor, multi-select.
- Standard codes: Florida codes (e.g., MA.912.GR.2.1) differ from Texas TEKS codes (e.g., G.7A).
- Order/sequence: similar content, slightly different pacing across curricula.
For Florida Geometry EOC prep: use our practice for volume, fluency, and topic coverage. Pair with FDOE official Geometry EOC sample items for format familiarity.
Want to see where your child stands on Geometry? Try our Geometry free sample — no signup, no payment. Mix of triangle congruence, similarity, circles, and coordinate geometry. If they score 85%+ cold, they're likely in Level 3+ range on the FL Geometry EOC. Other related: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Biology, Chemistry.
