Texas Credit by Exam (CBE) Schedule 2026-2027 — Testing Dates and Registration Deadlines for Every District We Track

Texas law requires every school district to offer Credit by Examination — and to publish the dates. It does not say where. So the dates sit in a PDF on one district’s site, a Google Doc on another’s, and a conversation with a campus counselor on a third. This page collects the ones we have read at the source.

The parent application deadline is the one that matters — not the campus ordering deadline that follows it. A campus cannot order an exam against a request that was never filed.

Allen ISD credit by exam dates, 2026-2027

How to apply in Allen ISD: Two different tests. EOA (Exam of Acceleration) is the elementary and middle school route; CBE is the high school one, and the autumn and winter high school sittings take students WITHOUT prior instruction only. The student must be enrolled in Allen ISD. Registration is approved on the campus — the Campus Intervention Specialist at elementary, the counsellor at secondary.

Coppell ISD credit by exam dates, 2026-2027

How to apply in Coppell ISD: Forms go to the campus counsellor by NOON on the deadline day — the registration window opens earlier and the row records its closing date. Whenever the exam is taken, placement into the new course happens only at the start of a school year, or at the semester for a one-semester course.

Georgetown ISD credit by exam dates, 2026-2027

How to apply in Georgetown ISD: Free — the district pays for the exams. Kindergarten through grade 12, for acceleration, verification, or credit recovery. Grade-level acceleration in grades 1-8 requires 80% or higher on all four subjects: maths, language arts, science and social studies. Course exams cover maths through Pre-Calculus, English I-IV, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and the social studies sequence. Exams come from UT High School; languages other than English come from AVANT.

Conroe ISD credit by exam dates, 2026-2027

How to apply in Conroe ISD: Four sittings a year, exams from UT Austin K-12. 80% or higher on an acceleration exam must be given credit and the student must advance — the district states credit may not be refused once earned. Request forms go through the counsellor by the END OF THE SCHOOL DAY on the closing date; late registrations are not accepted. The Assessment Department picks which of the two dates a student sits and notifies them; specific-date requests are not honoured, so a student must be free on both. A registration is tied to its own administration and cannot be moved to another. Some courses require a portfolio, an activity log or set reading beforehand — check the course study guide.

Districts where the campus sets the date

These publish firm registration deadlines but not sitting dates. That is not the same as publishing nothing — the deadline is real and the counselor books the day once the application is in.

Round Rock ISD

How to apply in Round Rock ISD: How to apply: talk to the campus counsellor first, then complete the EFA registration form (permission to test) and return it to them — elementary and secondary use different forms. Study guides listing the TEKS covered are published by UT High School and Texas Tech TTU K-12. Passing: 90% in kindergarten; 80% in grades 1-5 and 6-12. The district is explicit that 80% or higher MEANS the student accelerates that course — it advises against sitting the exam "just to see". At most four exams per testing window, and up to two exams a day. Cost: free inside the district's published windows. • Celina ISD — How to apply: the Exam for Acceleration application (grades 6-12, without prior instruction) is a form the parent and student both sign and the counsellor countersigns. It asks which subjects and semesters, and whether there has been prior instruction on each.
• Denton ISD — District publishes no testing dates: "Test day information will be emailed after the registration window closes", and the registration window is not stated either. Checked 2026-08-05. Vendors are UT High School, Texas Tech University K-12 and Avant Assessment.
• Fort Bend ISD — Administered the first two Saturdays in December. Exact dates not published — the district page directs families to the Assessment site and campus counselor.

How Texas CBE scheduling works

Under 19 TAC §74.24, a district must offer a testing window in each quarter of the year, allow one attempt per window, and publicize the dates. The rule fixes how many windows, not where the quarters fall — most districts draw them on the calendar year, but Mansfield ISD runs September–November, December–February, March–May and June–August instead. Do not assume two districts’ cycles line up.

What changes district to district is who may use which window, and what a family has to do. Some restrict mid-year windows to one-semester courses, so a year-long course such as Algebra 1 or Geometry can only be taken in summer. Conroe ISD picks which of two sittings a student gets and asks them to be free for both. Coppell ISD wants the form by noon; Conroe by the end of the school day. Allen ISD sends elementary families to the Campus Intervention Specialist and secondary families to the counselor.

Passing is usually 80% without prior instruction and 70% to recover credit for a course already taken, though districts differ — Round Rock ISD asks 90% in kindergarten, and Austin ISD and Eanes ISD set 90% generally. Round Rock also warns that 80% or higher means the student accelerates, and advises against sitting the exam “just to see”.

How this page is maintained

Every date here was read on the district’s own page or PDF, not taken from a search result. Search summaries misattribute one district’s window to another, which is the kind of error a family discovers on the morning of a test. Where a district publishes nothing, this page says so by name rather than leaving a gap that reads like an answer.

Reading the sources also turns things up. Cypress-Fairbanks ISD prints one 2026-2027 entry as “Tuesday, December 13, 2026”, and that date is a Sunday. Celina ISD lists a window as “July 27–August 7, 2025” against a registration deadline of “May 22, 2026”. Neither is a criticism — calendars are built by people with a hundred other jobs — but both are why we read the source.
